Lon’s Cyberpunk Noodles Recipe

Posted on Posted in Blog, Cyberpunk, Cyberpunk Culture

In the spirit of cyberpunk, I made some cyberpunk street noodles for lunch today and wanted to share my recipe. This recipe, which is highly modifiable, is Lon’s street noodle recipe from my upcoming cyberpunk novel, Glitch Zero. Lon’s noodle cart is over on 16th, and you can replicate this recipe for a little under $3.00 USD, it serves two. Noodles, as featured in my Cyberpunk Starter Pack, and the in-depth article covering the tasty food which you can read here, are a staple of cyberpunk society and fit in well with the idea of high-tech, low-life. This cyberpunk noodles recipe is quick, cheap, easy, and delicious.

The base of the recipe is quite simple, and the beautiful thing about this recipe, aside from the abysmally low cost, is how versatile it is. Don’t have an ingredient? Add in your own. Aside from the oil and noodles, you can add anything you want (within reason) and it will probably turn out great. Street noodles are made to be versatile and makeable with what’s on hand. Here’s my recipe. Recipe nutrition is dependent on the ingredients you use. If you’ve got extra food vouchers, try adding some fresh cut onion, carrot, bell pepper, and cabbage. Also, fresh cut garlic makes a world of difference.

The ingredients of Lon’s Cyberpunk Noodles (Two servings, ~550 Kcal/serving))

  • 14 Oz noodles (pre-packaged and pre-cooked are fastest)
  • 1 tablespoon of oil (preferably sesame seed oil)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • Something to use as sauce (I used 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered peanut butter or 1/4 cup peanut butter  (chunky or smooth)
  • Garlic powder (dash)
  • (optional)Crushed red chili pepper and sriracha sauce (added for taste)
  • (optional)Fresh veggies or meat

Step one: the base layer

Your base layer will consist of your oil, the soy sauce, the garlic, sriracha, and crushed red pepper. The soy sauce won’t mix with the oil but stir it all up anyway. Don’t turn on your heat yet. If you’ve got veggies or meat that you’re adding, be sure to cook those in butter or oil prior to starting the rest of the recipe as it cooks within three minutes. If you don’t have a sauce, try tripling the peanut butter and oil content. If you’re using peanut butter as your sauce, add it to the base layer, otherwise, wait to add it.

Step two: add your noodles, peanut butter (powder or actual peanut butter), and sauce

Take your noodles out of the package and add them on top of the base layer, then add your peanut butter and sauce then fire up the heat to the highest setting on your stove.

Step three: stir your cyberpunk noodles constantly until sauce is well distributed and the noodles are simmering.

Keep stirring quickly and keep the heat up to your stove’s max setting. Noodles do best with high-heat, a lot of stirring, and a short cooking time. From when you turn your heat on, you’ll cook them for 2-3 minutes.

Step four: Take them to-go or enjoy in your tech enclave!

You’re done! As easy as that. I hope you enjoy my Cyberpunk Noodle recipe, and please feel free to modify it as needed to suit your own tastes. Noodles are supposed to be easy and delicious.
